Samantha said: I agree with Ty, I would have my students hide under desks or in the corner where the shooter couldn't see that there was people in there. I would have also probably put black paper over the window in the door so it looked as if the lights were off and the room was vacant.

My response: It would be smart to hide your students , but I think if you put black paper over the windows that it would most likely lure them into coming to that classroom.  They would probably think that someone is hiding something or that there was alot of people in that room.  I think that it would intrigue them instead of them not noticing the room at all.  For all we know they could've thought of the room as vacant and maybe they would've used it to put all of there posessions into place.  We will never know.

"You might be out six, eight weeks." Butler told Boobie this when the Permian Panthers were at a scrimmage game against the Palo Duro Dons. He was attempting to stiff arm a tackler when, everything went completely wrong and he ended up injuring his knee. Boobie was of course shocked but if anything he was worried that his dreams were more than a million miles away now. "I want to go pro. That's my dream.... to be rookie of the year or somethin' like that." Boobie wanted to go far with football, because to him it wasn't just a sport it was his life. Even if he had a great paying job , he'd prefer to play football. His love of football is the only reason he made it that far in his life, he had something to depend on. "He's the best football player I've ever seen."  Jerrod McDougal and a few other students were having a conversation about no one other than
Boobie.  He was the year of eighty eight's only chance to go to state. He had to step in big shoes though, because Shawn Crow made Permian history by making first team all-state, but everyone had faith in Boobie.
My response to Calli: If I was a teacher at Columbine high school during the shooting, I would've told my students to hide until we were contacted otherwise. There was no way to tell if it was just a prank, but if that happend today people would most likely believe it because of the events of Columbine High School.

So far I've been reading about how the town of Odessa  became a football crazed town and about how it was developed. Although the town has went through many trials such as, sandstorms, diseases and droughts, the citizens are very loyal to their town because they could've left the town of Odessa , and go somewhere safer, but most chose to stay and stick it out.    How does past problems with law effect the climate of the town? Why does the town of Odessa love football so much? Why did Mike feel like he had to play football? How does the town show team spirit? What was the team looking forward to? Why did Boobie feel like he wasn't good enough even after he played football? What kind of impact does football make on the town of Odessa and the people in it?

introduction

Hi, My name is Tyesha Mckinnies.  Im an  sophomore in high school.  Right now im reading a book called "Friday Night Lights," written by H.G. Bissinger.  I was given it as an assignment in my second hour, english two class.  The town of Odessa is home of the sport football.  They have the greatest history in Texas.  The book shows the ups and downs of what athletes go through behind closed doors and the pressure to make it to the top.  Although many don't care where they end up..
